Bring on the XX Commonwealth Games.

So looking forward to the upcoming Commonwealth Games on 24 July – 4 August broadcast on Network Ten.

Check out this promo for the Games:

I’m lucky enough to be part of the commentary team and will be calling the Track and Field events alongside Peter Lonergan and David Culbert. We have our biggest ever track and field team heading to Glasgow and I’m really looking forward to seeing how the young athletes perform on the world stage as well as seeing our more seasoned campaigners compete for medals. Lots of highlights on the track to come including:

  • Sally Pearson in the 100m and the 100m hurdles. She has been struggling with injury coming into the Commonwealth Games which makes things challenging. She is the most determined athlete I know so I know she will be doing everything she can to prepare and  win gold.
  • Dani Samuels competing in the discus. Dani is in the best shape of her life. She’s continually had podium finishes in the recent Diamond League. She already has a Commonwealth Bronze medal but in Glasgow she will be going for that Commonwealth gold she has been working so hard for.
  • Kim Mickle broke the Australian record this year in the javelin. She has had an incredibly successful season in the Diamond League also achieving three podium finishes. She won a silver medal at the Delhi Commonwealth Games her main focus will be to win that gold.

I also can’t wait for that one athlete who comes out of nowhere and wins that unexpected gold medal. It’s always great to hear the story behind their success and for them to achieve their dream.

Bring on the games!
